Splendour of Gujarat


The state of Gujarat has a lot to offer to one and all. It has several places of religious and cultural importance. Dwarka, Somnath, Pawagadh, Bhadreswar, Shamlaji, the Jain temples at Taranga etc. are few of such wonderful sights. There are various monuments and forts with historical importance depicting the splendor of ancient architecture.

 


Itinerary


Day 1

Ahmedabad
Arrive Ahmedabad. Transfer to the hotel. Afternoon visit Gandhiji’s ashram in Sabarmati, the Akshardham temple. Overnight at hotel.

 
Day 2 Ahmedabad
After breakfast visit the Hathee Singh Jain Temple, Jama Masjid, Calico museum of textiles. Overnight at hotel.

 
Day 3 Ahmedabad - Rajkot (approx 225 kms / 5 hrs approx)
After breakfast drive to Rajkot and check in at hotel. Rajkot is a very pleasant provincial town. Sightseeing tour includes a visit to Kaba Gandhi No Delo, literally means 'Kaba Gandhi's residence', where Gandhiji spent early days of his life. This will be followed by a visit to Rajkumar college where Mahatma Gandhi completed his secondary education. Overnight at hotel.

 
Day 4 Rajkot - Dwarka (approx 235 kms / 6 hrs approx)
After breakfast drive to Dwarka check in at hotel for overnight.

 
Day 5 Dwarka - Porbandar (approx 122 kms / 2 hrs approx)
In the morning visit the Dwarkadhish temple, which houses the image of Lord Krishna. There are various other temples in Dwarka, like the Rukmini Temple – this temple belongs to the wife of Lord Krishna. Drive to Porbandar. It is a picturesque old sea port situated on the western cost of Gujrat. It is the birth place of Mahatma Gandhi. Later in the evening visit the Kirti Mandir where Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation was born. Overnight at hotel.

 
Day 6 Porbandar - Somnath - Junagadh (approx 217 kms)
In the morning visit the Somnath temple. This temple is one of the twelve most sacred shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva. According to the legend, Somnath temple was built originally in gold by the Moon God – Somraj. The temple was rebuilt and destroyed seven times. Finally it was rebuilt in 1950with the support of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. After visiting the temple then drive to Junagadh and check in at hotel for overnight.

 
Day 7 Junagadh - Ahmedabad (approx 315 kms / 7 hrs approx)
After breakfast visit Mount Girnar, the hills which is sacred to the Jain community. Junagadh town is located at the foothills of the sacred hill of Girnar. Visit Ashok Rock Edict, Junagadh museum, Uparkot . Evening return to Ahmedabad for overnight.
 
Day 8 Ahmedabad
After breakfast, check out of the hotel and transfer to airport for return journey.
